WSU is a land grant university with emphasis in undergraduate teaching, research and public service. A multi-campus research institution, WSU offers a liberal arts education balanced with practical instruction in professional and technical fields.
Students on the Pullman campus are provided strong career preparation and academic support programs in a small town living environment conducive to academic achievement.
Campus tours are available Monday-Friday during the academic year (excluding Holidays) at 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Tours begin at the Welcome Center in the Lighty Building, room 270.

Ferdinand’s Ice Cream Shoppe and WSU Creamery
Located in the Food Quality Building on the WSU campus, Ferdinand’s is home to the world famous Cougar Gold Cheese and Ferdinand’s Ice Cream Shoppe. The observation room is open for guided and self-guided tours where spectators can watch the award winning cheese and ice cream being made in the creamery. Hours are Monday-Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and 3 1/2 hours before kick-off of home football games. For information and to schedule group tours, please call, 509-335-2141.
Student Recreation Center
The Student Recreation Center (SRC) offers a variety of recreation and leisure activities including: lap and leisure pools, weight and cardio center, seven gym courts for basketball and volleyball, ping pong tables, raquetball courts, and indoor track. Day passes, guided tours, and memberships are available by calling, 509-335-8732. The SRC is open Monday-Friday 6 a.m.-11 p.m. and Weekends 9 a.m.-11 p.m.
Palouse Ridge Golf Club
The 18-hole championship-level golf course on the Pullman campus includes a 7,000 square foot clubhouse with a pro shop, lounge area, outdoor terraces and Banyan’s on the Ridge Restaurant (serving breakfast, lunch and dinner). Palouse Ridge includes a grass tee practice area, putting green, and 80-yard practice hole. PGA instruction available for all ages.
