Before May draws to a close, we’re proud to shine the spotlight on yet another Chamber Member! P1FCU — a member-owned financial cooperative — has been serving the Palouse since 1938, and continues to grow with a strong, people-first focus and new Pullman location.

After the arrival of now-Branch Manager Allison Russell in 2022, P1FCU Pullman has implemented a community-oriented vision in its day-to-day operations. “I saw a need for community-minded people and leadership,” said Russell, discussing the opportunity to step into the role of branch manager. “We’re trying to saturate ourselves in the community,” Russell added.

Serving the community has been at the forefront of the company’s work in the past few years. In 2023, they transitioned out of the small Walmart location they had held since 2008 to a new stand-alone location on Fairmont Drive, providing clients with a more private and welcoming space where they could share their stories and focus on building real relationships to better achieve their financial goals

That people-first approach is central to P1FCU’s core values or ROOTS: being relatable, original, willing to openly empower clients through education and mentorship, maintaining transparency and always demonstrating sincere gratitude in all interactions. Whether it’s offering competitive options like auto loans starting as low as 4.47%, supporting members with education around fraud protection, or providing financial literacy workshops at WSU, the University of Idaho and local care facilities, their focus is always on supporting the community first.

P1FCU’s impact goes beyond banking. Under Russell’s leadership, P1FCU has supported the Pullman Youth Baseball Association, local auctions and even helped provide holiday meals for eight families in Pullman this past winter.

Their commitment to the community is something that has made a lasting impression on our Executive Director Pete Chittenden, who has been a P1FCU member for over a decade.

“P1FCU is all about the people of our community,” shared Chittenden. “Customer service is alive and thriving here — they don’t just make you feel welcome, they treat you like family,” he added.
