Member Spotlight: Spokane Falls Community College – Pullman

We’re back with our first Member Spotlight of May! This month, the Pullman Chamber is proud to highlight Spokane Falls Community College (SFCC) Pullman — an accessible and flexible higher education institution making a lasting impact right here on the Palouse. The Chamber recently connected with the SFCC Pullman team to learn more about their background, programs and how they serve their students.
Operating in Pullman for 25 years, SFCC moved to its current location on the WSU campus in the spring of 2017, transitioning from its previous location inside the former Gladish Community & Cultural Center. SFCC Pullman is part of Spokane Colleges, which includes both Spokane Falls Community College and Spokane Community College. Together, Spokane Colleges provide prospective students with a wide array of educational offerings, ranging from GED preparation and High School + completion programs to ESL and liberal arts courses, technical training and more. The range of different options allows the institution to meet students wherever they are in their educational journey and help them move forward.

Flexibility is a key component of the SFCC experience. Students can attend classes online or in person, and small class sizes — often capped around 25 students — allow for personalized support and deeper classroom engagement. As one student shared, “As a nontraditional student with three kids finishing an AA, I appreciated that it’s open — you have the ability to choose online or in person.” Programs like Running Start provide high school students and homeschoolers with the opportunity to earn college credit early. Full-time Running Start students can graduate with an associate degree alongside their high school diploma.
Affordability is another clear advantage to studying at SFCC Pullman. At approximately $4,300, an associate degree at SFCC costs only about one-third of attendance at a four-year university. Combined with free applications and financial aid opportunities, SFCC provides a strategic way to enter higher education at a lower price point. Unique to SFCC’s Pullman Center, students at the institution also benefit from being located on the WSU campus, where they are granted access to amenities like the WSU Rec Center (except high school students), recreational clubs and the WSU food pantry. Many SFCC faculty members also teach at WSU, facilitating academic connections and potential pathways for transfer.
Whether you’re starting higher education or making a career switch, SFCC Pullman is the perfect place to help you succeed in your educational journey and identify the quickest way to achieve your next educational or professional step.
