We’re back with another Member Spotlight! This month, the Pullman Chamber is proud to highlight Girl Scouts of Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho (GSEWNI).
The Pullman Chamber team recently had the opportunity to travel to Spokane for a behind‑the‑scenes visit with GSEWNI—touring their headquarters, learning about their programs and seeing firsthand the positive impact Girl Scouts makes on youth across the Inland Northwest.
As Girl Scouts celebrates its 114th birthday on March 12, the organization remains one of the most prominent groups uplifting girls through taught leadership and community‑based service. GSEWNI has been part of that legacy since 1932, and today the council is distinguished nationally as one of the few that has grown post‑pandemic. They now rank 3rd in the country for cookie sales, with 100% of cookie profits staying local to support Girl Scouts in our area.

With camps, service projects and leadership programming, GSEWNI has a strong history of producing local leaders—50% of Eastern Washington Girl Scouts go on to become business leaders. One such leader is Cassie White of Pullman. A former Girl Scout and now leader of Pullman’s Troop 2281 and Service Unit Manager 424, White participated in Girl Scouts from 1st grade through high school. She credits her Bronze Award project at the local humane society with teaching her empathy and the importance of “being the person that cares.” Reflecting on those years, White shared, “What you learn when you’re young, you practice as an adult.” Now, she guides 3rd-5th graders through their own Bronze projects, encouraging them to see the world with curiosity.
That curiosity also shaped her career path. “Girl Scouts inspired my way of thinking and my thought patterns,” White said. “Girl Scouts asks you to keep exploring the world around you and question ‘why does something work the way it does?’” She says this mindset helped lead her to her current role at Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories.
Today, Cassie enjoys mentoring Girl Scouts, drawing on her past experiences to inspire the next generation. Her favorite part? Watching members of her troop grow in both confidence and understanding.

Looking to support local Girl Scouts? Cookie season is just around the corner! Digital Cookie Sales launch Feb. 13, and cookie booths will be running in our region from March 27 to April 19. For more information, visit www.gsewni.org/en/cookies.html
